Curtis Shows Off simPRO on the Apple iPad

Friday, May 28th, 2010

As you may know, the Apple iPad was launched today in Australia.

We knew that there was a lot of interest in using the iPad as a tool for simPRO users – both for the technicians to record job data, times, materials usage etc and for management to be able to access all their simPRO business information no matter where they are. We wrote about the iPad previously and how it would run simPRO – but many of you wanted proof.

So, we sent out our intrepid head techie, Curtis Thomson, to get one as soon as it was available and put simPRO through it’s paces.

Curtis queued for hours and endured the company of Apple Fan Boys just to be able to bring this to you, for that we salute his fortitude!

Watch the video below for the first look at simPRO running on the iPad.

The simPRO access via the iPad can be done in a number of different ways:

Technicians can access it through:

The standard `Employee’ login, or

The Ultra Mobile login – click here for more details.

Managers can access it through:

Their standard simPRO address and login.

The great thing about the simPRO system is that it will work immediately on the inbuilt web browser on the iPad. That means you can take the iPad out of the box, turn it on, open the browser and then open simPRO.

No need to download anything

No need for apps.

Like all parts of simPRO – it just works!

Note: That wasn’t really a photo from Curtis, I just found it on this website – just for a laugh.

Job Dispatch

Following last week’s article, B2B – The 4 W’s of Job Creation, I wanted to explore the different ways to dispatch or ‘hand over’ the job to the technician to perform the work. Within simPRO there are many different options for dispatching jobs out to the technicians using mobile devices or Navman Wireless but first I want to take a look at the basic method of using simple printed job cards.

There are a couple ways to print job cards and which way you go about it depends on what suits you and how you relate the job information to your technician

1) Printing from the day view schedule.

END-OF-MONTH – Simple Accounting Procedures that You Should be Doing!

Monday, March 8th, 2010

By Lynelle Hills

“How can I be assured that the financial data in simPRO matches our accounts program?”

This is one of the most common questions I get from concerned bookkeepers and Accountants regarding the use of simPRO. One of the most important things to do here is to ensure that the security profiles of your users are adjusted to ensure that transactions cannot be created, deleted or edited by a staff member who does not understand the accounting implications of doing so.

If a financial transaction in simPRO has been posted to your accounts program and that transaction is to be altered or deleted, the user who has rights to do this will receive a warning message in red. The alteration will need to be manually adjusted in the accounting program as well.

The list below contains a step by step procedure that should really be followed at the end of month to ensure that your simPRO and accounts package reconcile.   It could also be followed for the whole financial year when the accounts are being closed off. (more…)

How to use simPRO to Grow Nationally without the Overhead!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

SteveThis Month I would like to discuss how you can leverage more from your existing customer base.

First, I would like you to think about those customers you currently have who have sites you can’t physically get to. Also consider those who require disciplines you don’t provide. Wouldn’t it be great to service these clients needs and give them the choice to deal with just you nationally?
